Elastic Feeding Equipment - Overview
Rolled elastic such as spandex and similar materials are usually fed to diaper production lines using one of two general types of equipment: Over End Creels and Rolling Unwinds.
In Over End feeding, the spool or package remains stationary while the thread is pulled off the end of the spool - similar to an open faced fishing reel.
Rolling Unwind feeding is similar to the unwinding of most of the flat web materials that are supplied to the diaper line. The roll rotates about its core as material is unwound. Most rolling unwind systems used with rolled elastic are surface driven.
There are advantages and disadvantages with each type of elastic feeding system. Select a system to the right for a detailed description or select “Compare Both Systems” for a side-by-side comparison.
